Randwerk develops, Sidekick publishes

The Wanderburg Steam listing identifies Randwerk as the developer and Sidekick Publishing as the publisher. These are separate credits for the same game, listed under app 3624140. If you are looking for the studio that makes Wanderburg, Randwerk is the name to follow; Sidekick is the publishing partner, not an alternative name for that studio.

The official game website also introduces Randwerk, giving players a direct route from the game to its creators. Development material can nevertheless appear on Sidekick Publishing's channel, including the July 2026 developer diary discussed below. The channel hosting a video and the studio developing the game are different credits, so that publishing location does not change the developer's identity.

The studio behind Wanderburg

Randwerk's own website describes it as a cooperative independent game studio based in Berlin. The game's About Randwerk section introduces founders Till, Friedrich and Johannes, who worked together at university. The studio's public team page gives their full names as Till Freitag, Friedrich Beyer and Johannes Knop.

Those names describe the founders presented on the game website and the people listed in the public studio introduction. They should not be read as a statement that exactly three employees currently make Wanderburg, or as the game's complete credits. The current total staff count, full production credits and individual contractual roles remain 待确认, so the reliable short description is the studio's own: a Berlin-based cooperative indie team.

Earlier work: ABRISS

The official game and studio websites identify ABRISS - Build to Destroy as Randwerk's first commercial game. Wanderburg is therefore not the team's first commercial project, an important distinction if you are looking for the developers' earlier work. ABRISS is the verified previous title to look up, while the short introduction here is not an exhaustive catalogue of everything the studio has made. That connection establishes a shared developer, not a claim that Wanderburg inherits particular mechanics or technical features from ABRISS.

Following the development diaries

Sidekick Publishing released Welcome to the Desert! Developer Diary on July 20, 2026. Its introduction presents the developers collectively, and the passage at 00:14-00:29 discusses the design idea of adapting moving fortresses to desert terrain. This is a useful example of the team's development thinking, presented as a historical preview rather than a set of verified current gameplay values.

Watch that diary for the desert design discussion, and use the game and studio websites for the names and credits above. The July video predates the supplied research snapshot, taken on the morning of September 8, 2026, Beijing time. Early Access was planned for September 8 at 21:00 Beijing time; actual launch status remains 待确认 in that snapshot, and a development preview alone does not establish which content has shipped.
